Ethereum is the second-biggest cryptocurrency by market cap after Bitcoin. It is also a decentralized computing platform that can run a wide variety of applications — including a universe of decentralized finance (or DeFi) apps and services. Vitalik Buterin, the father of Ethereum, released a whitepaper in 2013. The Ethereum protocol was then constantly developed, and in 2015, the first public version of the Ethereum blockchain was launched in July, and smart contract functionality began to roll out on the Ethereum blockchain. OXBTC is photographing the evolution of the Ethereum ecosystem. Events include but are not limited to whether Ethereum will become an essential piece of infrastructure for a more open and free blockchain network or whether other smart contracts (or traditional) platforms will overtake it.
